About Us

Company History

The history of Nudo begins in August of 1954 when Sam Nudo, Sr. established Economy Awning and Tile Company, a retail store selling awnings, floor tile, siding and windows, in Springfield, Illinois. Then in 1962 Nudo became a wholesaler and the largest fiberglass awning-manufacturing dealer in Illinois. Shortly thereafter, Nudo began providing fiberglass panels to the agricultural market – which set the tone for our building products business.

Nudo has become one of the largest laminators in the United States. Our experience and commitment to quality contribute to our leadership position in producing panels with a variety of substrates such as plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), gypsum and composites, finishes such as aluminum, fiberglass, and high-density polyethylene, and insulation materials.

Imaginative thinking led to the development of complementary products such as moldings, trims, and fasteners. Again, our experience with resins and plastics helped us become a dominant player in the market where washable, scrubbable applications were a necessity.

Today, Nudo primarily operates in four business segments: Building Products, Signage, Transportation Products, and OEM supplies. Our building products business consists of ceiling, wall, floor and exterior architectural panels. Although our portfolio is diversified, our core competency remains consolidated – we excel in laminating various materials to meet the independent need of each situation. Our innovation approach requires us to explore each problem and consider alternatives based on new material technologies.

After 56 years of operations with more than 200 employees, Nudo continues to be commited to the Power of “And.” To us, this means more solutions and greater opportunities without subtracting our dependability for quality and service.
